Supervision of Children by Parents or Guardians

Parents and/or guardians are responsible for their children or young persons (under the age of 18) and are under their supervision at all times while the young person is present at the Siddha Yoga Ashram or meditation centre.

The following guidelines are strongly recommended regarding the general supervision of young people, but they do not relieve the parent and/or guardian from his or her responsibilities in this regard:

Children age 13 or under should have an approved caretaker (parent, guardian) with them at all times.

Children ages 14 – 15 may be on their own for short periods of time as long as a parent or approved guardian (who is present at the Ashram or meditation centre) knows where they are at all times and checks in on them regularly.

Children ages 16 – 17 may be on their own as long as a parent or approved guardian (who is present at the Ashram or meditation centre) knows where they are at all times and checks in on them regularly.

The Siddha Yoga Ashram management or meditation center steering committee may require that a young person spends most or all of his or her time with his or her parents or guardian, depending on individual circumstances.

In chanting and meditation groups, parents or legal guardian(s) are responsible for the supervision of their children (under the age of 18) at all times.
